The Children’s Directors at the Okotoks Campus, Joel and Tanisha play an integral role in shaping lives and inspiring eternities.
When the Okotoks Campus was in need of someone to help with the children’s program, the couples’ response was: “We can do that!”
And they have been involved with the Sunday school program ever since.
“You get kids who have been involved in church their whole lives and other kids who are from the most horrible life situations, and you have one hour of the week that you can build into them and encourage them,” Tanisha says. “You can be part of changing their lives.”
For Joel, being able to see the change happen in peoples’ lives over a period of time is one of the most rewarding parts of serving.
“It’s really cool to see people grow in their walk with God and see the change that has happens,” he says. “It’s impacted me. My trust and my faith have been strengthened drastically.”
Serving together has also provided the couple with the opportunity to connect with others at a deeper more meaningful level.
“When people hit tough times, everyone pulls together,” Tanisha explains. “When I look at our church in Okotoks, when you’re going through a tough time, everyone surrounds you. It opens your world up. You get less focused on what you’re doing and more focused on how you can help others.”
